The PSPL Model 4005 is the world's fastest, commercially available, high amplitude pulse generator. It produces a 5 ps falltime pulse into 50 ohms. The 4005 is a complete stand-alone, AC line-powered instrument. It contains all necessary circuits, including regulated power supplies, rep. rate clock (0.1 Hz to 1 MHz), fixed delay circuit, trigger output, trigger input, output driver, and a pulse head.

There are many different possible applications of the 4005 Pulse Generator. They include: (1) Risetime Standard for calibrating oscilloscopes, (2) Reference source to extend the frequency response of oscilloscopes through deconvolution, (3) Step response testing of components such as amplifiers, low-pass filters, etc., (4) Semiconductor switching time measurements, (5) 10 ps risetime TOR and 5 ps TOT measurements, (6) Baseband Impulse Radar, and (7) Laser diode driver.
