Description

The Tri-Carb® 2910TR LSA is a computer controlled benchtop liquid scintillation analyser for detecting small amounts of alpha, beta, and gamma radioactivity.

Services

Drug and biomarker discovery:

  • Cell proliferation assay
  • Cell proliferation studies based on the 3H thymidine assay are employed frequently in immunological, cancer, stem cells, and pharmaceutical research to assess the ability both of natural and synthetic compounds to stimulate or inhibit the proliferation of cells
  • Global methylation assays

3H-SAM (S-adenosyl-L-methionine) is routinely used in vitro to characterize DNA methylation enzymes. 3H-SAM is also used to assess in vivo global methylation level, an important biomarker in development of and susceptibility to certain types of cancers. Global methylation assays are also currently being used to assess the efficacy of DNA hypomethylating drugs in the treatment of cancer.

Metabolic cell labelling:

  • Metabolic labelling of cells with low-energy beta-emitting radioisotopes such as [35S] methionine and [35S] methionine/cysteine is used to follow the biosynthesis, maturation, and degradation of proteins in vivo.
