Description

100+ node heterogeneous sensor network and wireless network testbed for validation and research in sensor network protocols & wireless network protocols.

Includes a sub-project for intelligent transportation system testing using the new IEEE 802.11p standard.

Specification

Capabilities:

IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n/p protocol testing IEEE 802.15.4 protocol testing Fully reconfigurable routers (OS and other software can be setup for each test individually) with Tmote Sky-like wireless sensor modes attached. Energy measuring and remote debugging capabilities for the sensor nodes through a custom adapter Control and management trhough either OMF (ruby scripts) or, alternatively, a simple web-based interface Hardware:

Each node consists of a router (PCEngines Alix 2d2, Carambola 2, or Mikrotik RB433), a custom adapter, and a sensor network hardware device (AdvanticSYS XM1000) Placement:

90 indoor nodes (horizontally & vertically distributed; 5 floors in a 7-floor building) 10 outdoor nodes (around the building) 5 outdoor nodes on the roof of a 7-floor building 10 web cameras Additionaly, 50 mobile nodes are available on site. They can be used for e.g. in-vehicle placement.

The nearby streets and a corner of forest is covered by the radio signal coming from the outdoor nodes. Indoors, communication across multiple floors will be available.

Services

Validation of wireless sensor network equipment and protocols.
