Description
Differential scanning calorimetry is a thermal analysis method, in which the amount of energy absorbed or released by a sample when it is heated or cooled is measured, providing quantitative and qualitative data on endothermic (heat absorption) and exothermic (heat evolution) processes. The test sample and known reference material can be compared, measuring the rate of heat flow and determing material composition, crystallinity and oxidation.
