Description
The Ion PGM™ System is affordable, high-quality next-generation sequencing system accessible to human disease researchers and microbiologists around the world. The Ion PGM System is a reliable sequencing platform that combines simple sample preparation and data analysis solutions with flexible chip output for ultimate project flexibility. Personal Genome Machine (PGM™) System combines semiconductor sequencing technology with natural biochemistry to directly translate chemical information into digital data, democratizing sequencing and making it accessible to virtually any lab or clinic. The system leverages the exponential improvements in the semiconductor industry (known as Moore’s Law) to provide scalability and flexibility for various applications. The system’s use of the simplest, natural sequencing chemistry eliminates the need for expensive optics and reduces complex chemistries to measure natural DNA extension. Direct, real time sequencing detection provides sequencing results typically in less than 3 hours. Applicable research areas: Cancer research, inherited disease research, microbial genomics, stem cell research, agriculture, epigenomics, metagenomics, forensic science, and ancient DNA genomics. Key applications: Targeted DNA sequencing, copy number analysis, targeted RNA sequencing, small RNA sequencing, de novo microbial sequencing, bacterial typing research, viral typing research, ChIP sequencing, methylation analysis, SNP verification, and genotyping by sequencing. CPU: Dual 6-core 2.66 GHz CPUs Instrument Memory: Eight 2 TB Hard drives in RAID 5, 48 GB RAM Technique: Post-Light™ Ion Semiconductor Sequencing Throughput: Up to 2 Gb per run Read Length: 35–400 bases (average: 200 bases) Sequencing Scale: 3 Mb to 2 Gb Capacity: 1 chip per run Output: Ion 314™ Chip v2: Up to 100 Mb, Ion 318™ Chip v2: Up to 2 Gb, Ion 316™ Chip v2: Up to 1 Gb Run Time: Ion 318™ Chip v2: 4.4 to 7.3 hr, Ion 316™ Chip v2: 3.0 to 4.9 hr, Ion 314™ Chip v2: 2.3 to 3.7 hr Reads⁄Run: Ion 318™ Chip v2: 4-5.5 million, Ion 314™ Chip v2: 400-500 thousand, Ion 316™ Chip v2: 2-3 million Data Output: VCF Files, FASTQ Files, SFF Files, BAM Files
