Bathymetric survey – the process of collecting data on depths in the area of research, that is performed using suitable technical equipment and in special circumstances executed manually. After the required post-processing the results of the bathymetric survey are presented as an array of georeferenced depths within the zone of research. Depending on the coordinate system of clients choice, each depth is represented as a set of three values:
XYZ (northing and easting, depending on selected projection; depth).
Later bathymetric data may be used for such applications as:
*Preparation of marine or nautical charts for safe navigation
*Morphological analysis of bottom topography and coast
*Sedimentation analysis (Sediment transport)
*Monitoring of dredging activities
*Planning, design, construction and monitoring of subsea engineering communications.
